George Alexander
Portland Photography Team
George aka ‘7even’ is amongst a rare group of young photographers to harness manual techniques on analog cameras and rely strictly on film-stock.
The core of their work is spontaneously crafted street photography - though they adore capturing most, if not, every subject that catches their eye; taking after his idol, Nobuyoshi Araki.
Music has always been a big part of George’s upbringing, with his father being a sound engineer and avid vinyl collector. While his mother being a travel photographer also played a part in forging his path. That has in turn - had a knock-on effect, driving his own collection of not just records, but negative strips.
in his own words:
“I always take as long as I need before pulling the trigger; I find there to be a lot of power in that - and in that brief pause behind the viewfinder, is where I craft my art - my choice of film, lens, shutter speed and aperture alter not only the exposure, but also the perception of reality. The image in my lens becomes my reality, if only for that brief second, documented for eternity.”
